Statement of Purpose
Franklin Street Baptist Church purpose for ministry is to encounter God, through worship, encourage believers through fellowship, enlighten all through relevant and age appropriate teaching, engage believers through service, endeavor to save the lost through evangelism, and enrich the community through kingdom development.
• Encounter God through Worship
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24
• Encourage believers through fellowship
“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25
• Enlighten all through relevant and age appropriate teaching
“Commit yourself to instruction;listen carefully to words of knowledge. Proverbs 23:12
As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” 1Peter 2:2-3
• Engage believers through service
“But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. For each one shall bear his own load. Be Generous and Do Good” Galatians 6:4-5
“What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” James 2:14-17
“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom.” James 3:13
• Endeavor to save the lost through evangelism
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Matthew 28-19-20
• Enrich the community through kingdom development
“Then I said to them, “You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.” And I told them of the hand of my God which had been good upon me, and also of the king’s words that he had spoken to me. Nehemiah 2:17-18[/acc_item]
